My Self

              My name is Devindran Rajasingam But you can call me Devin. I'm 18 years old and apparently single. I am single for a reason and it’s not that I can’t get a partner. I'm an only child. I'm very close with my parents. I think my family tree is unique because I have a cross-cultural extended family. I have uncles and aunts (from my father side) with a different religious beliefs and cultures which are Christian, Chinese, Hindu and Punjabi. Therefore, we always had a great time gathering together especially when it comes to a festival and celebration days like on, Christmas, Chinese New Year, Diwali and wedding ceremonies as well.

             I live in Rawang which is situated in Selangor. It is not to say a very exiting place to visit but it is a very quiet and peaceful place to live. There is also a huge waterfall nearby and it is called Templer’s Park. The water is very cold and refreshing and that is also one of the reason it has become tourist point. Other than that, I also love going out for movies at the cinema with my mom, listen to music.

             When it comes to relation ship, my parents and I have a very strong bond. Since I’m an only child my parents treat me more of a sibling than a son. Yes they do scold me or worn me if I am ever wrong but, in a daily lifestyle we laugh, talk, make jokes, sing in the car and argue just like if we were siblings.

            I am currently doing my Diploma in Interior Design in college. When it comes to college, the lifestyle here is totally different.  After I had started college I found more friends who are a little bit more mature. So far, studying in college is something that I find joy in. I love my subjects, friends and most of all I have wonderful lecturers. They might look scary sometimes, but hey don’t judge a book by its cover.

            It does get a little hard sometimes. But even so, I've tried to look in a positive side, because I know nothing comes easy. It is also one of the things that my parents have thought me. My parents had thought me to work towards my goals never giving up and also the value of money and how hard it is to earn it. In order to improve my work performance and myself, I believe there are still many things I have to learn, and need to strive for having a better life in the future.

My Food Poem

Mee Goreng

Mom’s Mee goreng is the best;
no other mom can beat it;
and every time she cooks it
I can hardly wait to eat it.
I twist the strands around my fork
with wonderful control,
but as I raise them to my mouth
they fall back in the bowl.
I twirl the noodles once again
with all the skills I have i try,
but as I lift them up to eat
they tumble to the table.
I spin my fork; the noodles wind,
around and around once more;
but as it nears my waiting lips
it slithers onto the floor.
Mom’s Mee goreng is the best;
no other mom can beat it;
but I would like it better
if I ever got a chance to eat it.

Element

Pills

The Pills that ended it all.

            This story is about a young boy named Frank, who ended up loosing his family after he got addicted to drugs. The drugs that he was consuming came in a pill form. His addiction started when he went to high school. He started taking pills, smoking weed and also hanging out with other drug addicts which some how became his friends.

           One day he met a girl named Jenna. She was into drugs as well, and was from a broken family. From the age of 10, Frank used to steal money from his brothers savings, sometimes even over 300 dollars. He would hit his mother and brother when their father wasn’t around, asking them for money. He would look for knives and matches and threaten to kill them.

            Frank will always have mood swings, sometimes he would be happy and nice and then all of a sudden he would turn into a killing monster. Then  one day he asked his psychopath girl friend to move into their house. His mom and younger brother could not do anything as their father was working overseas.

            For three years, Franks mom and his younger brother were prisoners in their own home. Even when his mom and brother would go to their grandparents house, they would get death threats from Frank. So one early morning, Franks mom and younger brother quietly snuck out with all their belongings and moved far from Frank.

             Three months later, Franks mom found out in a newspaper article that Frank was arrested for drug abuse and his girlfriend was suffering from HIV +. Franks mom did not bother to visit Frank at the rehabilitation center. She did not want anything to do with Frank. After being in rehab for a few months, Frank learned that he shouldn’t have taken those drug pills in the first place.

My Ideal Future City

           If I was given a chance to own a future city I would call it High Definition or HD for short. The reason I would call my city that is because I imagine a futuristic city to be perfect, clean and clear. And by clear I mean that my city would be mostly made of glass. Apart from glass, my city would also be made of metal, bamboo wood, plastic and fabric for a pop of colour. There would also be beautiful landscaping with lots of beautiful plants.

          When it comes to clothing, I imagine people wearing stylish and fashionable clothes and not uniforms like what we see in the movies. The people of my city would have a walk in closet in their homes, full with clothes and a whole wall full of shoes. Their homes would be very beautiful and very spacious. The whole house should be equipped with automated technology.

            Even though their house are very futuristic, I feel that the transport in my city should remain the same. Public transports like buses and trains would be automated but for personal transport, I feel that humans would just get more lazy because their vehicles would do the driving and not them. For me I want my future city to have ordinary vehicles like what we have now, but with upgraded exhaust systems to prevent air pollution.

            Temples and Mosques will remain their original shape to preserve their culture. People of my city should not neglect their religion and believes. Other than that, Department stores and restaurants would serve all religion and culture. Traditional ways of cooking and serving food should remain the same to maintain the culture of all religion. Workers and customers should not be racist among each other.

Being a Reporter.

As the school reporter, I was told to do a report on the recent Sports Day event carried out by the school.4th April 2014,Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Desa 2 had its Annual Sports Day. At 7:30 in the morning as the school open, students started arriving, all dressed in orange, the school’s sports T-shirt. The students were all exited for the event to start. As the school bell rang and the clock struck 8, everyone was seated at the assembly while the headmaster gave his speech before the event began. Once the headmasters speech was over, all the students lined up according to their class, and headed off to the field. The event began at around 8:20 am. The first event that was carried out was the opening ceremony which was then followed by a marching band. As soon as the Marching was over the school’s Annual Sports Day Began with all sorts of activities. And at the end of the Annual Sports Day, the headmaster gave out the prises to them who took place in the sports day which then followed by a final speech before every one was served with a buffet lunch. As the day end, the students, teachers and the headmaster was proud of their accomplishment and how smooth the event took place.
